Seafood can be part of a healthy diet and in fact is recommended to be eaten twice weekly by the Canadian Food Guide. Salmon and Trout and other oily fish such as mackerel, sardines and anchovies are high in Omega 3 Fatty Acids which are considered to be particularly beneficial. Scientific studies have linked consumption of foods high in Omega 3’s to a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and dementia and improved brain health. Further studies have proposed links to a reduction in certain cancers, improved immune function and anti inflammatory effects.
