Great cheap and fast seafood

The good is always consistently good- same every time we've been there. Service is always friendly and fast. I can't speak for any other location, have only been to the Crowfoot one.
The halibut is my favorite, but I've tried the haddock and the original and they are all good.
They'll let you substitute cole slaw for regular salad or even the fries for salad.

p.s. you can sign up online for there Mariner's Club and get a free entree.

Best Joey's Restaurant in Calgary - Crowchild Trail NW

There are more than a handful of Joey's Restaurants in Calgary and as a calamari lover I have tried most, if not all, of them. Joey's signature calamari is basically deep-fried tender rings of squid coated with special seasoned batter with a light sprinkle of spice, and is served with seafood sauce. Sounds simple, but not every chef knows how to do it right. Because of the rubbery nature of the squid, the conventional calamari served in most Joey's restaurants are generally too chewy, and the batter is mostly overdosed. This Joey's at 2120 Crowchild Trail NW of Calgary served the best calamari on my visit yesterday. The squid was tender and fresh, and the amount of batter was just right with no excessive batter applied that masked away the natural flavor of the squid. I could tell that the chef had really done it with his heart which overshadows the other Joey's I have visited. I also ordered a Seafood Plate with scallops, shrimp, fish, potato chips and coleslaw which I also like it better than those offered at the other Joey's in Calgary. None of them was over-cooked and they all tasted juicy and fresh to this picky seafood-lover. Once again, I believe that's because the chef of this Joey's had really did it with his heart.

After the meal I had a friendly chat with the chef and owner Elton Liang and then I realized that every Joey's chef had undergone a formal training so presumably all tastes should be the same in every Joey's. However, having finished a training does not imply the skill will be the same as other graduates or the trained chef will apply strictly what he's learned. For Mr Liang, I believe he must have followed strictly the recipe, timing, and freshness of Joey's tradition and may be he has even improved the taste with his own secret touch as well.

Some Joey's are huge or look grand but I like this cozy one better. The washroom was clean and tidy as well. Anyway, honestly this small Joey's is not the biggest in town but is definitely the most top-notch one in terms of taste and food quality. I have tried the best similar restaurant in Las Vegas that charged a lot more than the Joey's for the calamari but I can tell you now you can have similar calamari in this Joey's at only a fraction of the price. If you have not tried any Joey's or if you are wondering the Joey's are just so-so, try this one and you won't regret.

There's a reason I keep coming back here in Castlegar

And it's because it's absolutely fantastic. The service is excellent, friendly, quick, and gets to know their customers. The menu is very extensive, offering a large variety of seafood choices in addition to a large number of chicken dishes as well, with everything accompanied by a large variety of side dishes to choose from and a great selection of appetizers - overall, there should be something for anyone here.

To me, though, the best part is that while the restaurant isn't super-cheap, it also gives you a lot for what you pay - you WILL be getting your money's worth, especially with breakfast options (which are slightly more expensive than most other places in the Kootenays, but offer very large portions and are delicious).

Good Food and Decent Prices

I went out for a date night with my spouse to Joeys last week and had a good experience. The service was prompt and food was good. A tiny bit greasy but thats kind of what you expect from fish and chips. Overall I would go back and had an enjoyable time. There is no reason to not check this place out, especially if you are looking for seafood in the crowfoot area.

Joey's in Penticton Review

Today, we were on a shopping blitz with our Decorator/Friend, Daryl and stopped in at Joey’s Only. We spoke with the owner, Dan Adam and I have to tell you, he is one great proprietor. Dan is a breed apart from the rest. We watched him wipe tables, work the front of the house, speak with everyone that came into the restaurant. Today it was packed. No one was slacking in the service end of things. The food arrived hot, super fresh and absolutely wonderful.(Fish and Chips and Daryl had the Fish Sandwich special). I cannot promote this establishment enough. Again, it is consistent in quality, service, smiles and clientele. Be sure to visit, say hi to Dan and tell him where you read this. Thanks Dan. Again it was great.

Best Jumbo Coconut Shrimp Ever

What a friendly and speedy place. The friendly staff were more than awesome, respectfully attentive and timely. The service was bang on and there was no waiting around to get someones attention, like so many other dining experiences.

The Coconut Shrimp were the best I have ever had. Crispy, juicy and HUGE with lots of flavor. They offer you the best outer layer of coconut shavings that made me feel I was in the tropics, until I looked out the window again. There was a fantastically flavored dipping sauce with an extensive personality I never thought an animate object could offer my taste buds! Sweet and just the right amount of zip to keep you dipping back for more, I even put some on my fries! The Fish and Chips were golden and cooked to perfection.

Grand treat, I was delightfully stuffed, thanks again to my dad for bringing us there.

Leduc Joeys New Ownership Group makes ammends

After receiving a follow up telephone call from Omar to come in to meet with him and try his food again, we did just that. What an awesome meal we had. Everything was absolutely fresh and cooked to perfection. After personally meeting Omar and his Mom and being given a tour of the kitchen, we are again, fans of Joeys in Leduc. We appreciate the candid and sincere conversation we had with everyone and by the time we left, we felt like we had known them for years. The customer-service is second-to-none and I will definitely return just to see the staff. We went from never wanting to return to cannot wait to go again. Thank you Omar for showing how much you truly care about your customers and therefore, your business. Other restaurants could learn from you. We will be back for sure. Thanks again. See you soon.
BEST FRESH SEAFOOD YOU CAN GET FOR THE MONEY at Joey's Crowfoot

Yelp Review of Joey's Edmonton West

It's probably more deserving of 3 stars but for the value of the food, about $14 for 2 pieces of fish, chips, veggies, and half chicken I think it's worth it. If I'm in the mood for seafood, I think I would go back.

Just a safe place to lunch or dine

Nothing fancy - just good solid food.

Wife and I had lunch;
Hot chicken sandwich with extra chicken n gravy.
Fish (2) n Chips.
Both meals came with cold slaw, etc..

Total bill was but $20.00
Not bad for 2011!

(This could very well be a late night "Place to meet your friends" type outlet, after hours - but that is another story.)

The best customer service I have ever recieved

The best customer service i have ever recieved. We were greated with a friendly hello and a smile. Seated right away, we were then told the specials of the evening. Staff were dressed in what i thought was very appropiate for a FAMILY rest. Food came out fast and hot. Fish was fresh and flaky. Servers were very confident in what they were selling. It was nice to go in and have a sit down meal in a great atmosphere! Cooks thanked us as we walked up to pay the bill. The best part of out experience was the manager/owner came and thanked us for dinning. They talked and thanked every table. Servers were professional, yet witty. I will definately go back! Its worth giving a try.

Dine Out Winnipeg

For $9.99, I find Joey's all-you-can-eat fish and chips a terrific buy. Although this is a franchise, Joey's seems to consistently produce flaky, tender strips of fish, crisp fries, and passable and even sometimes good sides. You'll find yourself filling up quickly, though, so all-you-can-eat or not, you'll probably polish off a couple of strips and a handful of fries before the grease gets to you.

I've also tried my hand on their all-you-can-eat side ribs. Sloppy and tasty, I enjoyed this basic meat and potatoes meal. The ribs were fairly meaty and painless to refill (like the fish and chips, you get one extra strip at a time), while the choice of sides is a nice touch for those of us not wanting to overdo the deep-fried food.

In a bind, I'd definitely choose Joey's over McDonald's

Restaurants in Sylvan Lake, Alberta

Two seafood restaurants serve up the fish to hungry visitors and residents in Sylvan Lake: Chief's Pub and Eatery and Joey's Only. While Joey's Only is best known for its seafood, the restaurant also cooks up a variety of other foods, including soups, salads, sandwiches and ribs. Joey's ocean fare includes shrimp, Pacific snapper, scallops and mussels. That doesn't mean the ocean fish is the only kind of fish served; Joey's also features trout and salmon dishes.

Knowing that her maritime specialty, Coquilles St. Jacques was a crowd pleaser, four months ago Diana Fall entered her own rendition into the local Joey's Only seafood contest for the best recipe featuring fare from the sea.
Just recently she sat by her radio anticipating the announcement…and although she knew her recipe was good…she didn't know what
caliber of competition she was up against.

Playground equipment still a priority for fundraiser

Despite their best efforts and gathering more than 1,300 votes, the Princess Elizabeth schoolyard project that was in the running for a $25,000 prize lost out to a B.C. non-profit pregnancy centre. The Joey's Only Seafood restaurant chain set the $25,000 cash prize as part of it's 25th anniversary celebration. Nominations came in from more than 60 worthy organizations from animal shelters to children's health initiatives. More than 27,000 votes from across the nation poured in and, in the end, the Kamloops Pregnancy Care Centre was the winner with 2015 votes.

"It's a good cause that won," admits Raymond Knight. "The Brantford Pregnancy Centre has done tonnes of good for Brantford so, hopefully, the Kamloops Centre does the same.

Pregnancy Care Centre reels in some cash

A local organization that helps moms and pregnant women has won $25,000. The Pregnancy Care Centre of Kamloops will use the money from the Joey's Only Community Revival Project to help fund some of its programs, said centre executive director Shirley Bosman. In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the national seafood restaurant chain used an online voting system to decide the winner from many non-profit organizations. The centre, located at 535 Tranquille Rd., offers support to women who find themselves in difficult maternal situations.

It provides counselling, pregnancy testing and support-group interaction for women struggling with issues relating to motherhood, adoption and abortion. The organization was founded in May 2007 and is affiliated with the Canadian Association of Pregnancy Support Services. Following personal experience, Bosman saw the need to provide support to women who lacked family guidance. "Up until Dec. 1, we have helped 469 clients in this year alone," she said. All services are provided free; the centre does not receive any government funding.

The centre is in its introductory stages of the implementation of two new support agencies, one aimed at teenage motherhood and the other at more mature women. Joey's Only Kamloops restaurant manager Stephen Burr is delighted with the local triumph, describing the success as "a great testimony to Kamloops and the type of people that live in it." Bosman's winning nomination essentially outlines the company's intentions and can be found online at pregnancycarekamloops.com.

Joey's Calgary Trail - We love it

Joeys is a great place to eat good seafood for a reasonable price; it is a very good alternative to the more pricey billingsgate restaurant which I can also absolutely recommend. the fried fish is always golden brown, the oil is changed frequently. the location is clean, the server are nice and friendly and there is a huge parking lot right in front of it. if you choose "all you can eat" you should have little patience. waiting for the second, third (or more) course is usually normal in every restaurant!! If you are tired of overpriced burgers or tasteless sandwiches, check it out.

An open letter - Memories of Joey's in Penticton

To Whom It May Concern: When my wife asked me last September what I'd like to do for my birthday I had no hesitation in telling her what in part where I'd love to be sitting: at Joey's Restaurant in Penticton, ordering up some of their fantastic, lightly-battered halibut, and sprinkling some malt vinegar on the slices before shaking a bit of salt to round out the only flavoring.
A month later, my dear "fisherwoman" complied and we drove up there from Walla Walla, a mere 350 miles or so. We had been there once before, many months ago, and the lingering taste of some of the finest prepared fish I'd ever eaten this side of England and Scotland made me promise to return, especially since both the Boise and Olympia restaurants of Joey's had closed their doors.
We phoned ahead just to be sure the Penticton outlet didn't go the way of those two US affiliates. The owner/manager Dan assured us our journey would not be in vain. So we packed up for a three-day trip with Penticton to be our first stop.
Distance prevents us from being regular customers at Joey's Only, of course. Had we lived closer, we probably would have reserved a weekly table since we both delight in how you prepare fish ... to our specification. We hate the breaded variety, the heavily-breaded kind where the fish seems to be an afterthought.
This past visit contained no surprises at your restaurant. We ate until sated. How lovely, how soon it was over.
An additional plus on this trip was to meet the owner of the Penticton store who graciously took the time to answer all of our questions about your restaurant. A regular Jeeves, this Dan, who proved to be so friendly! Too, a certain amount of pride exuded from him to be connected with Joey's Only and we appreciated the comments he made. We can't remember a time in our dining experiences when the proprietor didn't appear to be giving anything more than superficial, company-hype; Dan struck us as most sincere.
Hey, a plug here must go to the two fine waitresses who on both trips also shined. Great staff at Joey's Seafood Restaurant there in Penticton.
Don't know when we'll get back, it couldn't come soon enough. Know this, we have great memories of eating there. Hope we can do it again sometime. Preferably soon. Sooner.
    Sincerely,
    Bink and Susan Owen

$25,000 still up for grabs

With just a few weeks to go, entries have barely trickled in for a $25,000 award designed to give Canadian communities a big boost. Based on the dramatically low number of entries for a $25,000 cash giveaway, Joey's Only Founder Joe Klassen believes there is little interest in applying for a windfall that could really make a difference in the winning community. Joey's Seafood Restaurants has promised to give away $25,000 to a community revival project in celebration of it's 25th Anniversary, but to date there are just a handful of organizations interested enough to make the video application.
